This tutorial video covers the use the different commands in Rhino to create masses.

Synopsis

When importing Sketchup files into Rhino, it’s desirable to have imported geometry not be meshes. We typically want the ‘trimmed planes’ option selected. When massing in Rhino, we’ll either be using the ExtrudeCrv tool from curve footprints, or OffsetSrf from surface footprints. We can edit any mass using sub-surface selection. Blocks function exactly like components in Sketchup except they don’t update live. We can use display color to “assign” program or meaning to geometry independently of the actual rendering material.
