Capital Research Day 2019

The Inaugural Capital Research Day was organized by an interdisciplinary team of Carleton University faculty as a celebration and showcase for undergraduate research — posters, projects, papers, poems, and other experiments — addressing the Ottawa-Gatineau Region.

The day included poster sessions and presentations, as well as a panel discussion on the topic of Capital research thinking for the future. A jury, comprised of current architecture graduate students Scott Normand and Charline Ouellet, awarded prizes for exceptional work and research done by the students.

The Grand Prize and award for Future Think was given to Alaa Azan, a 4th-year undergraduate student from the institute of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Awards of Excellence in Design Innovation were give to Jaron Kasiban, Connor Tamborro & Jasmine Skyes.

Honourable Mentions in Design Thinking were awarded Cheshta Lalit, Celeste Correia, Guillermo Bourget.

Panel speakers included Catherine McKenney (City Councillor), Hindia Mohamoud (Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership), and Stan Leinwand (NCC Urbanism Lab)
